The CBC Digital Financial Inclusion Program for MSMEs team met with executives from LexTego and the Fraud Risk Management Systems Center of Excellence, towards exploring possible areas of collaboration ahead of the execution of the Proof of Concept (PoC) for the COMESA Digital Retail Payments Scheme between Malawi and Zambia.

The PoC’s objective is to ensure the security and integrity of retail payments’ settlements. Implementation of robust security measures such as encryption, secure authentication, and transaction monitoring to safeguard against fraudulent activities. By providing a secure platform for retail transactions, the PoC aims to enhance consumer confidence and reduce the risks associated with online payments within COMESA.

More details on the PoC, which is set to be launched in November 2023, are to be shared in upcoming weeks.
