Filao Group of Companies is engaged, for 43 years, in the manufacturing of luxury leather products (alligator watchstraps and leather boxes and displays) for top brands of the watch and jewelry sector. President from 2008 to 2011 of Union of Indian Ocean Chambers of Commerce and Industries (UCCIOI), which gather the Chambers of Commerce of Madagascar, Reunion island, Comoros, Seychelles, Mauritius and Mayotte. Presently the First Vice President of the UCCIOI. President of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 1996, 2005, 2010, and since April 2018. Past Executive Board member of Pan African Chambers of Commerce and Industry; COMESA Business Council and ASCCI (Association of SADC Chambers of Commerce and Industry) President of Mauritius Exports Processing Zone Association (MEPZA) from 1992 to 1994. Chairman of Mauritius Exports Development and Investment Authority (MEDIA) from 1996 to 1999. Elevated in Mauritius to the rank of Commander of Star and Key (CSK) in 1996 for outstanding services to industry. Recognized in 2011 by France to the rank of Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur. Honorary Consul for United Republic of Tanzania in Mauritius since 2010.
