Lusaka, Zambia – 16th March 2023 – COMESA Business Council joined hands with the Zambia Association of Manufacturers, to donate assorted items to Sekelela Community School in aid of its Feeding Program for the learners. The school, which is located in Lusaka West, has a total of 525 pupils, majority of whom are orphaned children, or children at risk of abuse or neglect.
CBC’s CEO, Mr. Teddy Soobramanien in his remarks noted that as the voice of the private sector in the COMESA region, it was part of CBC’s social responsibility to help the vulnerable within the community. “The feeding program is integral to keeping the learners, who are our future business leaders, in school,” he stated.
Stationery supplies, clothes and other such essentials were also donated towards enhancing the quality of the learning experience of the learners.
The activity was an embodiment of CBC’s values of people, integrity, ownership, collaboration, and service, and would not have been possible without the generous donations from the local food manufacturers. We thank everyone who was involved in organising this initiative towards making it a success!
