Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in Southern Africa and shares borders with South Africa, Mozambique, Zambia and Botswana. It has a total area of 390,580 square kilometres and an estimated population of 14 million persons.

Zimbabwe is a member of the COMESA (Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC). Its economic profile is summarized below: Zimbabwe’s economy is to a modest extent diversified. Agriculture remains the principal source of employment but the mining and services sectors are also expanding in terms of export earnings, employment and contribution to GDP. Manufacturing contributes to about 15% of GDP in Zimbabwe, agriculture at 14% and mining 10 % and the services sector about 61%. Key export products include tobacco, gold, nickel and diamonds.

The Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries- ( CZI) is an confederation that fosters, encourages, promotes, protects and advances the sustainable growth and development of the manufacturing industry and business development in Zimbabwe.
